Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Robert Anthony Silence was born on 6 August 1972 in the parish of St Andrew, Jamaica and is a past student of Excelsior High School. He holds an Associate of Science Degree in Business Studies (Management) from Excelsior Community College and Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting and Banking & Finance from the University of Technology, Jamaica. He is presently employed to Adolph Levy & Brother Limited, a subsidiary of the Shipping Services Group of Companies, as the Assistant General Manager.
WO1 Silence enlisted in the Third Battalion the Jamaica Regiment (National Reserve) (3 JR (NR)) on 18 March 1995. He was promoted to the ranks of Lance Corporal in 1998, Corporal in 2003, Sergeant in 2008, Staff Sergeant in 2010 and to Warrant Officer Class 2 in 2013. On 26 January 2019, he was promoted to the rank of WO1 and appointed Regimental Sergeant Major 3 JR (NR).
During WO1 Silence’s military tenure he has served as a Recruit Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Intake Sergeant Major, Sergeant Major Instructor and Warrant Officer in charge of Training (Battalion). He also held the positions of Mess Secretary and President of the Mess Committee for the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess 3 JR (NR).
WO1 Silence has successfully completed the Potential Junior Non-Commissioned Officer Cadre, Junior and Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Cadres, C3 Medic and C3 Driving courses and has participated in several military training exercises both locally and internationally.
He has been awarded the Medal of Honour for Efficient Service in 2008 and the second Bar to the Medal of Honour for Efficient Service in 2014.
WO1 Silence was commissioned as a Justice of the Peace in November 2017.
He is married to Marsha and enjoys playing chess, football and solving puzzles.
