HAPPY 106TH BIRTHDAY MRS ENA COLLYMORE-WOODSTOCK!!!
The Chief of Defence Staff Rear Admiral Antonette Wemyss-Gorman, on behalf of the Jamaica Defence Force, conveys warmest birthday greetings to Mrs Ena Collymore – Woodstock on her 106th birthday.
Mrs Collymore – Woodstock is the oldest living service woman from World War II (WWII).  She joined the Auxilliary Territorial Service at the outbreak of WWII where she performed clerical duties.  She then joined the Anti-Aircraft Service as a Radar Operator in Belgium.
After the war, she served as a War Office Clerk in the United Kingdom before commencing her law studies in 1946.  She returned to Jamaica where she rose through the ranks of the court system to become the Deputy Crown Solicitor in 1953 – a first for a woman.
She further contributed to national development as a Resident Magistrate and Chief Commissioner of the Girls Guide for ten years where she won several accolades from both Jamaican and international organizations.
Mrs. Collymore-Woodstock was honoured with the Order of the British Empire in 1967 for her work with the Girl Guides and Jamaica’s Order of Distinction Officer Class for services to the Judiciary in 1975.
We salute our extraordinary veteran and wish her a very happy birthday.
