Lieutenant Colonel A L LYSIGHT
Lieutenant Colonel A L LYSIGHT was born in the parish of Kingston, Jamaica on  25 November 1968.  He is a proud alumnus of Meadowbrook High School where he is actively involved in the development of the current students.  He enlisted in the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and it was then that his passion and ability to lead were quickly recognized.  As a result of diligence to task and astuteness, he ascended through the ranks and was appointed the fourth (4th) Force Sergeant Major (FSM) in 2014. Lt Col LYSIGHT was commissioned from the Enlisted Ranks in 2019 and since then has held numerous appointments.  He was the trailblazer in the portfolio of Director of Protocol at the Inspector General’s Department, then Assistant Inspector General Ceremonial, performed duties from the office Second -in- Command of the First Battalion The Jamaica Regiment, Training Major for the Third Battalion The Jamaica Regiment (National Reserve) and Acting Training Major Support Battalion (National Reserve).  He was appointed Second in Command Second Battalion The Jamaica Regiment until given the mandate to Command the said Unit.
 
During his over thirty four (34) years of military service, he has gained numerous professional and military qualifications, which has allowed him to augment the effectiveness of the units he has served. He is a graduate of the United States Sergeant Major Academy (USAMA) in El Paso Texas and was the first from the JDF to be inducted into the Hall of fame of the prestigious institution.  He successfully completed the Caribbean Junior Command Staff Course (CJCSC), the Canadian Joint Command and Staff Programme Distance Learning and is the holder of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University College of the Caribbean, he is currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies at the University of the West Indies.
 
He is a Justice of the Peace, recipient of the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service, the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal 2012, Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, the Medal of Honor for General Service Medal, the Jamaica Military Commendation Medal of Excellence and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal.  
 
Lieutenant Colonel LYSIGHT is married to Karen, and is the father of two children, Debon and Shaneil.  He enjoys sports in general and played most in his younger days and enjoys mentoring young people.
