 Colonel D I  Creary

Colonel D I Creary enlisted in the Jamaica Defence Force in February 1996 and successfully completed Young Officers’ Training at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, Lympstone, United Kingdom in 1997. He received the Commonwealth Award for exceptional performance in training.

Throughout his career,  Col Creary has completed numerous military training courses. These include: the International Intelligence Officer Course, USA; Royal Engineers Troop Commanders Course, UK; Caribbean Junior Command and Staff Course, Jamaica; International Officer Explosive Ordnance Disposal Phase I & II Course, USA; International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigation Regional Training Conference at Canadian Forces Base Borden, Canada; International Atomic Energy Agency’s Regional Training on Foundations and Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and Facilities Course, Peru; United Nations Humanitarian Civil-Military Course, USA; Law and Armed Conflict and Human Rights Course, USA and the US Army Command and General Staff Officers Course, USA.

 Col Creary held successive military appointments in the JDF as follows: Infantry Platoon Commander; Infantry Battalion Intelligence Officer; Infantry Company Second- In-Command; Regiment Training Officer (1 Engineer Regiment (JDF)); Squadron Commander; Director of the Jamaica Defence Force Technical Training Institute (JDF TTI); Detachment Commander of the Jamaica Defence Force Military Training Wing; Second-In-Command, 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF); Second-In-Command, Second Battalion The Jamaica Regiment; Commanding Officer, 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF); Commanding Officer, Support and Services Battalion and Staff Officer in charge of Strategy, Plans and Policy/Communications and Information Systems.

 Col Creary has participated in numerous local and regional training exercises to include Exercise Peace Keeping Operations North in Guatemala and Dominica Republic. He has vast experience in military training, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and was instrumental in the JDF TTI obtaining its initial accreditation.

 Col Creary has been awarded the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service, Medal of Honour for General Service and Medal of Honour for Long Service and Good Conduct.

Col Creary is the holder of a Bachelors of Science Degree (BSc Hons) in Management Studies, Masters of Science (MSc) Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies and a Masters of Military Arts and Science (MMAS) Degree. He is also a trained National Council on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET) Auditor and Assessor.

 Col Creary is a graduate of the Oberlin High and Wolmer’s Boys School.

He is married and has three (3) children. His hobbies include listening to, watching and taking part in sporting activities.
