Warrant Officer Class One Andy A GAYLE
Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Andy A Gayle was born on 15 June 1973 in the parish of St Elizabeth, Jamaica and is a past student of Waterford High School. He is self employed as a Construction Contractor.
WO1 GAYLE enlisted in the Third Battalion the Jamaica Regiment (National Reserve) (3 JR (NR) on 1 April 1995. He was promoted to the ranks of Lance Corporal in 2004, Corporal in 2006, Sergeant in 2009, Staff Sergeant in 2012 and to Warrant Officer Class 2 in 2014. On 1 November 2023, he was promoted to the rank of WO1 and appointed Regimental Sergeant Major Support Battalion (NR).
During WO1 GAYLE’s military tenure he has served as a WOIC Signals, Recruiting Sergeant Major, Sergeant Major Instructor and Company Sergeant Major. He currently holds the position of President of the Mess Committee for the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess JNR.
WO1 GAYLE has successfully completed the Potential Junior Non-Commissioned Officer Cadre, Junior and Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Cadres, Warrant Officer, Advance Drill Programme, C3 – C1 Signal, C3 – C1 Driving, General Construction Level 2, HVAC Level 1 and 2, Service Funds Accounting courses as well the Peer Support and Strategic Management courses. He participated in several military training exercises both locally and internationally.
He is an avid sportsman having competed in several inter-unit and forces sporting competition to include boxing, football, table tennis and as a member of his Unit March and Shoot Team.
He has been awarded the Medal of Honour for Efficient Service in 2008 and the first and second Bar to the Medal of Honour for Efficient Service in 2014 and 2020 respectively, Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal 2022 and the Medal of Commendation for Excellence (Jamaica) 2024.
He is the father of six (6) children (four (4) boys and two (2) girls) and enjoys travelling, watching football, boxing and other sporting events.
