On Thursday February 15, 2018, the Jamaica Defence Force turned out for the official opening of parliament. They were clad in the blazing red tunics and and the navy blue, red-striped pants synonymous with national ceremonial events. The parade, which was commanded by Captain Raymond Warren was furnished by the First Battalion The Jamaica Regiment (1 JR), was the first ever parade of such kind for ninety-six (96) of the recently graduated Jamaica National Service Corps Soldiers. Also, for the first time as Parade Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), was the recently promoted RSM for 1 JR, Warrant Officer Class 1 Christopher Allen.
