Warrant Officer Class One Anthony O Grant
Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Anthony O Grant was born to mother Maze Riley and father Author Grant on 22 January 1968 in the parish of Kingston, Jamaica. He was educated at the Allman Town Primary and The St Andrew Technical High School. He holds a Diploma in Construction Site Management.
WO1 Grant enlisted the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) on 10 January 1989. He was trained at the Newcastle Training Depot (now Caribbean Infantry Training Centre (CITC)), in Newcastle, St Andrew. Upon completing basic training in 1989, he was posted to the First Battalion the Jamaica Regiment (1 JR) Bravo Company.
He was posted to the 1 Engineer Unit Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) in 1990, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in 1992 and to Corporal in 1996. In 2008 he was promoted the rank of Staff Sergeant and promoted to Warrant Officers Class Two in 2009.
WO1 Grant served as Building Troop Commander, 5 Maintenance Squadron, 1 Engr Regt (JDF). He also served as Squadron Sergeant Major, 2 Field Squadron, 3 Construction Squadron and 5 Maintenance Squadron, 1 Engr Regt (JDF).
He was promoted to the rank of WO1 in 2018 and appointed the Regiment Sergeant Major (RSM) 1 Engr Regt (JDF) in 2019 where he currently serves.
Over his career, WO1 Grant has successfully completed various Professional Military Courses to include: Potential Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Junior Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Non-Commission Officers Course, Warrant Officers Course (Jamaica 2015) and Advanced Drill Course (Jamaica 2018).
He was awarded the Medal of Honour for General Service with Clasp 2018 as well as the Medal of Honour for Long Service and Good Conduct 1st and 2nd Bars. He is also the recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
He is married to Sharon and is the father of three children, Samantha, Savanah and Alexander.
