Warrant Officer Class One Gerald C Baker

Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Gerald Constantine Baker Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the Support & Services Battalion was born in the parish of St Elizabeth.  He attains his formal education at the Balaclava Secondary School.

WO1 Baker enlisted in the Jamaica Defence Force on September 21st 1989 and completed his basic recruit training at the Newcastle Training Depot where his military career began.

Throughout his career, WO1 Baker has had the distinction of attending several military courses both locally and internationally to include, Potential Non-Commissioned Officer Cadre, Junior Non-Commissioned Officer Cadre, Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Cadre, Junior Leader Tactics course, Combat Life Saver course, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Managers course, All Arms Service Funds Course, Regimental Sergeant Majors’ Course, Advance Drill Course, Range Management Course, State Protocol and Business Etiquette course.  In 2014 he attended the United States Army Sergeant Majors Course where he obtains a Diploma.

He also took part in overseas training exercises and exchanges including Calypso Hop in 1991 and 1993 and Puerto Rico in 2000.  He was also part of the contingent that went to Trinidad and Tobago during the attempted coup in 1990.

WO1 Baker served as an instructor at the Training Depot from 1998 to 2004.  During this period he trained several recruit intakes.  He also served as cadre instructor for a number of non-commissioned Officers Cadre.  He assisted with recruit training of the Bermuda Regiment.

WO1 Baker has held several appointments throughout his lustrous military career such as, Section Commander, Platoon Sergeant, Quarter Master Sergeant, Warrant Officer Admin, Company Sergeant Major, Drill Sergeant and presently Regimental Sergeant Major.

He is the recipient of the medal of Honour for Long Service and Good Conduct, The Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal and the First Bar to the Medal of honour for long service and good conduct.

WO1 Baker is an avid sport fan who likes to play cricket and volleyball.  He likes to watch football, wrestling and lawn tennis.

He is married to Althea and they have three daughters DeAnnie, Jhanielle and Tyra-Jay.
