Major Michelle D BROWN

Major Michelle BROWN was commissioned into the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) as a Lieutenant in September 2012. She currently serves as theSO1 J5, Staff Officer for Strategy, Plans, and Policy.

As part of her professional military education, Major BROWN attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, the Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Gordon, and the Military Intelligence Captain Career Course at Fort Huachuca in the United States. The latter laid the foundation for her branch specialisation in military intelligence, which has defined most of her military career. She has also completed several specialised training programmes, including the Program in Terrorism and Security Studies, Introduction to Operational Planning Concepts (IOPC), Border Security Project, Transnational Organised Crime Workshop, Stress Management for Optimal Functioning for Frontline Officers, Gender Module, and the OAS Drug Abuse Control Commission Workshop.

Major BROWN has held various military appointments, including several Officer Commanding appointments in the Military Intelligence Unit, and Adjutant at both the Military Intelligence Unit and the Second Battalion, The Jamaica Regiment (2 JR).

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies, a Master of Science in National Security and Strategic Studies and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Major Brown is the recipient of the Medal of Honour for General Service.

Major BROWN has a keen interest in physical fitness, the arts, and travel.
