Video highlight from the Jamaica Defence Force Air Wing (JDF AW) aerial firefighting support rendered to the Jamaica Fire Brigade in extinguishing a bush fire in the Mavis Bank area over the weekend.
The aerial firefighting operation took place over two days and continued well into the morning hours of Monday 6 February 2023.
The Bell429, fitted with the Bambi Bucket made thirty-one (31) bambi bucket drops in order to control the fire.
The JDF remains ready to serve our fellow citizens and aid our partner agencies.
On Saturday 4 February 2023, the Jamaica Defence Force Air Wing (JDF AW) received a request from the Jamaica Fire Brigade for assistance fighting a fire in the Mavis Bank area. The Bell429, fitted with the Bambi Bucket and flown by Captain Miguel Ross and Lieutenant Michael Richards with Aircrewman Corporal Caroun, B, departed Up Park Camp at approximately 11:28 am to render assistance.
The aerial firefighting operation took place over two days and continued well into the morning and saw thirty-one (31) bambi bucket drops being made in order to control the fire.
The JDF AW boasts equipped and experienced servicemembers who possess the necessary skillset to effectively conduct military aviation operations as they fly for all.
