VIRTUAL LAUNCH – CJSSS VOLUME 3.1

The virtual launch of the Caribbean Journal of Strategic and Security Studies (CJSSS) Volume 3 Issue 1 was held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Caribbean Military Academy (CMA).

The Editor in Chief Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Rocky Meade selected a most appropriate theme for this volume:  Building Strategic Resilience: Managing Uncertainty in an Increasingly Complex World.  The staging of the launch was quite timely as the CJSSS has been produced biennially since 2017.

Volume 3.1 is a true reflection of the resilience of both the contributors, the Editorial and Production teams who were undaunted in their pursuit to complete the publication of the Journal despite the ongoing pandemic.

The intent is for the CJSSS to be the premier resource for students, academics as well as public sector and private sector professionals in Jamaica, the Wider Caribbean Region (WCR) and the world.

The event was hosted by the outgoing Production Manager, Commander Judy-Ann Neil; Professor Laurence McCabe (series editor) gave a synopsis of the eight (8) articles that were featured in this volume and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Security Mr Courtney Williams presented copies of the Journal to the contributing authors and select members of the public and private sectors.

The articles can be grouped into three broad categories: cyber security and its implication for existing laws and regulations, regional security with the focus on Venezuela and the rise of China in the WCR and environmental threats to include climate change and water security.

CJSSS Volume 3.1 examines diverse threats and challenges that can have significant impacts on the increasingly uncertain local and global security environment.  All three volumes of the CJSSS may be accessed free of charge at
