Warrant Officer Class One Terrence Marriott
Warrant Office Class One (WO1) Terrence Marriott joined the Jamaica Defence Force on the 11th January 1989. He was trained in New Castle for Twenty (22) weeks and passed out on the 20th May 1989. He was posted to the Second Battalion the Jamaica Regiment (2JR) Alpha Company (A Coy), where he served as a Rifleman, a Second in Command (2IC) for a section, Non Commissioned Officer in charge of the Company Armstore (A Coy 2JR) and Section Commander. He was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in 1990 and to Corporal in 1992. He was posted to the JDF Training Depot in January 1994 where he served as a Squad Instructor and Platoon Sergeant on both the Recruit and Cadre wings. 1n 1997, he was appointed Local Sergeant until he was promoted to Sergeant in 1999.
WO1 Terence Marriott was posted to the First Battalion the Jamaica Regiment in 2003 where he served as a platoon Sergeant in Alpha Company. He was attached for two (2) years to Western Hemisphere Security Corporation (WHENSEC) Fort Benning, Georgia, USA. At this Military School, he served primary as a guest instructor from 2007 to 2009. In 2007, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He was appointed course director in 2008 at the NCOA at WHENSEC. In 2009, he returned to Jamaica to 1JR briefly where he was promoted Warrant Officer Class Two (WO2) and posted to the Jamaica Officers’ Club (SSB) as manager. He returned to 1JR as a Company Sergeant Major (CSM) in 2010. He first served as Charlie Company (C Coy) CSM and then Head Quarter Company CSM in 2012. In 2013 he was appointed Drill Sergeant. He was promoted to WO1 and subsequently appointed Regimental Sergeant Major for the First Battalion the Jamaica Regiment in 2014. In 2018 he was posted to 1 ER and was appointed RSM.
WO1 T Marriott attended the following military courses: Potential Non Commissioned Officer course 1990, Ocean Venture 1990, Section Commander Battle Course 1992, Close Target Reconnaissance 1992, Senior Non Commissioned Officer Cadre 1995, French Commando Course 2004 (Guadeloupe), NCO Professional Development Course 2004 (USA), Service Funds Course 2006, Army Instructor Course 2007 (USA), Small Group Instructor Course 2007 (USA), Fast Rope Insertion and Extraction System (FRIES) 2008, Urban Marksmanship 2008 and Advance Drill Course 2014. He attended the following educational institutions: Ellison Primary School, Vauxhall Secondary School, UWI Open Campus and Caribbean Maritime Institute. He has a Certificate in Business Studies, and state protocal and business etiquette, a diploma in Spanish and a Degree in Security Administration and Management.
He was born on the 4th of July 1968 in the parish of Kingston and is married and is the father of four children. He is the recipient of the Meritorious Service, Queen Jubilee, Long Service and Good Conduct, First Bar (Long Service and Good Conduct), and Meritorious Service (USA) medals. He attained master instructor at Western Hemisphere for Security Coorperation (WHENSEC). He is a Justice of the Peace and a member of the lay magistrate Association, Kingston chapter. His hobbies are watching movies and playing games. Some of the games played are football, basketball and volleyball. His interest is to leave the JDF in a better state than he came and saw it.
